About our school

Bossley Park Primary School was established in 1890. It is situated on 2 hectares of land of which three quarters are playing fields and recreation areas. We are in Sydney's south western suburbs, next to the Western Sydney Regional Park. We have strong traditions of academic excellence, equity, values and innovation. Our nurturing and harmonious environment reflects our motto of "Tolerance."

Parents are always welcome and valued as partners in their child's education. We have a very active and supportive Parents and Citizens Association which meet once a month to discuss strategies to support our school's management plans.

We have an outstanding emphasis on our teacher's professional development, continued learning and quality teaching. All teachers have developed their own professional learning portfolio which articulates their learning goals and makes connections to the NSW model of pedagogy and the NSW Institute of Teachers standards.

Specialist programs in literacy and numeracy learning blocks, student leadership, information technology, creative and expressive arts, public speaking, spelling, debating, skipping and sport extend our students' outcomes.

Our learning support team assists all teachers to identify students' learning needs and develop individual programs to ensure the achievement of all outcomes.

As part of our student welfare program we have implemented the "PBL" model (Positive Behaviours for Learning) where safe, active and respectful learning is emphasised.

All of our classrooms, the hall and library are air conditioned and all classrooms and the library have interactive whiteboards. The audiovisual room in the library is set up as a connected classroom with video conferencing facilities enabling real-time video communication with classrooms across the world.

We have an enrolment of 430 and a staff of 34 including classroom teachers, support teachers, English as Second Language teachers, community language teachers, a reading recovery teacher, a teacher/librarian, school learning support officers, administration staff and a counsellor.

Our students come from over forty cultural and language backgrounds whose diversity is celebrated throughout the year with multi cultural days, community days and performing arts festivals.

We are part of the PARKs family of local schools where the sharing and collegial development of ideas, teaching and learning skills are emphasised.
